Happy New Year from 411 NOLA
You may have noticed that things got a little slow for 411 NOLA at the end of 2011. Well…good things are still happening this year. In fact, two of our contests end today, December 31, 2011. Don’t miss you chance to win tour tickets, cash, and more. (See below for more info.)
2012 is almost here, and 411 NOLA will reach its 2nd birthday in April. It’s hard to believe, but it is true. We hope to grow, to improve upon what we are already doing, and to create more ways to generate revenue so that we can continue to get better. Christmas and Chanukah may be over, but there is still time to give 411 NOLA a gift. Email us at info@411nola.com to find out how.
Thanks for your patronage in 2011. Stick with us in 2012. The best is yet to come (like Saints in the Super Bowl). Who Dat!

The Hidden History of Les Gens de Couleur Libres
Free people of color, often abbreviated f.p.c., is the term used to refer to Blacks who were born free or were manumitted prior to the Civil War. Also referred to as gens de couleur libres, their presence in New Orleans is recorded as early as 1722. Le Musée de f.p.c., an historic house museum, is one of the country’s few attractions dedicated exclusively to preserving the material culture of and to telling to the story of free people of color.
